Role Responsibilities
- Application Development: Design, develop, and implement web applications using the Laravel framework.
- Back-End Development: Write clean, efficient, and well-documented PHP code for server-side logic, database management, and API integrations.
- Database Management: Work with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) to design and manage efficient database schemas, queries, and relationships.
- Collaborative Development: Collaborate closely with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic, ensuring seamless functionality.
- Testing & Debugging: Write and execute unit tests, identify bugs, and implement fixes to improve application performance and reliability.
- Code Optimization: Continuously optimize code to improve load times, enhance performance, and ensure scalability as the user base grows.
- Security & Data Protection: Ensure security best practices are followed, including encryption, validation, and user authentication, to safeguard sensitive data.
- Version Control: Utilize Git and version control best practices to manage code repositories and collaborate with other developers in a team environment.
- Maintenance & Updates: Provide ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and updates to existing applications as required.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including project specifications, API documentation, and code comments
- Proven Experience: Strong hands-on experience with PHP and Laravel framework (preferably 5+ years).
- Web Development Skills: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end libraries or frameworks.
- Database Knowledge: Solid experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and familiarity with database design, query optimization, and migrations in Laravel.
- API Integration: Experience with RESTful API development and integration, as well as familiarity with third-party API services.
- Version Control: Proficiency in Git, GitHub, or GitLab for version control and collaboration in a development team environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and provide effective solutions.
- Familiarity with Testing: Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., PHPUnit) and test-driven development (TDD) practices is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, time-management, and collaboration skills
Being a Melbourne based organisation, we're looking for our team to be based locally. We also require applicants to hold an Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency (PR), or have other permanent work rights.
