We are looking for an Algorithm Researcher to join our world-class Sensor Technologies team.
Polar Research Center is part of Polar R&D and it acts as an innovation accelerator for Polar product and service developments. Research Center comprises a multidisciplinary team with expertise ranging from sensor technology and algorithms to physiology, data and AI sciences, as well as exercise and health sciences. The team conducts cutting-edge research in wearable technologies, follows scientific developments and collaborates globally with academic and industry partners. Polar Research Center is located at our headquarters in Kempele.
As a Researcher in the Sensor Technologies team, you will contribute to the development of advanced sensor solutions for Polar products. You will collaborate with experts across disciplines and play a key role in advancing our technical capabilities.
Main responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing biosignal (e.g. optical heart rate, ECG, bioimpedance) processing algorithms
- Contribution to development and prototyping of research platforms
- Contribution to technical innovation via internal and collaborative research projects with a focus on wearable sensor technology
- Acting as a technical expert and supporting internal stakeholders in development, testing, and productization of sensor solutions
Requirements:
- Technical background, at least master’s level degree in biomedical engineering, (bio)physics, computer science, or a related field
- In-depth understanding of biosignals and the physiological phenomena behind them
- Solid experience in signal processing methods and algorithm implementation for real-time systems, as well as experience in Matlab or Python programming
- Proficiency in reading and understanding C/C++ code syntax
- Understanding of embedded software design, including power-optimized operating systems, sensor technologies, and electronic measurement equipment
- Strong collaboration skills and adaptability to team environments, with fluent communication in English
