SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES, INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
The Network Architect ensures consistency and durability of all infrastructure resources, based on state of the art of current technologies of IT in alignment with the IS Directorate strategy and governance.
He assists the Head of Department Network and Datacentre with organization of the tasks of each team, being a technical leader to fulfill all the missions of the Department and achieving roadmaps.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES
DUTY 1: Conception
The Network Architect defines the technical architecture of IT systems taking into account the Business needs, performance, scalability, sustainability, flexibility, transition and integration into the existing IT architecture. He assesses the requirements (new requirements or developments of existing ones) in terms of architecture; he puts forward possible solutions, documents the feasibility and the financial impact of the alternatives proposed and assists to find the solutions that best correspond to the strategy laid down in the Business Plan.
The Network Architect participates in defining the strategic and tactical lines of the Business Plan for infrastructure and the path for implementation.
The Network Architect drafts or validates tenders related to IT Network architecture. He also validates proposed technical solutions as part of a tender process. He contributes to drafting contracts related to IT network components including SLAs.
DUTY 2: Administration
The Network Architect defines and supervises technical standards for administration and recommendations (tools, procedures, norms, vocabulary, etc.).
He shall supervise complete and provide consistent documentation of the current and future network Architecture landscape.
DUTY 3: Advice and support
The Network Architect assists other members of IT teams in their technology evaluations, technical designs, and technical implementations.
The Network Architect brings in innovation including proofs of concept to validate viability and adequacy of emerging technology. He also identifies technical training priorities for infrastructure teams.
He continuously works with “INTERPOL Engineering Office” to provide support for Software and Solution Architects working on new projects.
DUTY 4: Communication
The Network Architect works with “INTERPOL Engineering Office” to anticipate needs and technical evolutions.
He ensures technical teams have relevant guidelines and processes do fulfill their tasks.
He provides them knowledge, guidelines and ensures technical leadership. This includes monitoring of standards, use of architecture patterns, tools and good practices.

Qualifications, Competencies And Skills

Education and qualification required:
- Three to four years’ education at a University or specialized higher education establishment, or equivalent degree or certification.
- Other certifications including ITIL foundation are appreciated.
- At least 5 years of experience in a large and complex IT enterprise environment.
- Experience in Architecture Definition, including different technical domains: Multi-Datacenter Architecture, Cloud Computing, Network and Infrastructure, Security, Web Services, Authentication, etc.
- Experience in Change Management.
- Working knowledge of English is required. Fluency in English is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of French is highly desirable.
- A third working language of the Organization (Arabic or Spanish) would be an additional asset.
- Excellent methodology in order to achieve work on a large number of projects/products simultaneously.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with customers and colleagues in a courteous and friendly manner and to work in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Results-orientation: positive goal-oriented attitude in the workplace.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Familiar and/or experienced with a majority of the following:
- Multiple environments including Windows and Linux
- IPsec VPN Tunnels
- Firewalling
- WAN links
- WAN optimization
- Network Address Translation (NAT)
- IPv6
- Design, deployment, configuration administration and troubleshooting of Cisco switches and routers
- Knowledge of network sniffer Traces and interpretation
- Spanning Tree Protocol, VLAN, Trunk, link aggregation
- Static routing and dynamic (EIGRP, OSPF, Basic BGP routing)
- Enterprise Wireless LAN technologies
- Expertise in VOIP technologies
- Expertise in LTM and APM technologies
- Knowledge in WAF technologies
- Mobile Device Management Systems (MobileIron, Airwatch, etc.)
- Identity and Access Management and Web SSO solutions
- Cloud computing, and Cloud Hybridation
- Demonstrated understanding of core Internet protocols and services.
