Summary:
The Network Operations Engineer is responsible for maintaining the stability and security of the company's LAN/WAN environment while providing advanced technical expertise. This role involves collaborating with business leadership to understand and meet client requirements, designing and configuring network equipment, diagnosing and resolving network issues, and managing enterprise projects to deliver value on time and within budget. The engineer will also oversee data center configurations, manage support contracts, and build relationships with key vendors
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides advanced technical expertise to maintain the stability and security of the company’s LAN/WAN environment
- Works with business leadership on behalf of clients to ensure that requirements are understood and met
- Designs, configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipment's and related services
- Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves all network related problems
- Creates and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks
- Independently manages large enterprise projects to deliver value on time and within budget
- Provides technical oversight and design of hosted data center configurations and footprints
- Works with leadership to manage support and maintenance contracts
- Establishes and maintains relationships with key network and data center vendors
Qualifications:
An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. he requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
- Advanced hands-on skills related to implementing and administrating enterprise network devices:
- Firewalls
- Load Balancers
- Traffic shapers and QoS
- Wireless Access Points
- SD WAN - Silverpeak
- Cumulus Switches
- A thorough understanding of available LAN/WAN technologies including cost, benefit, price, etc.
- A thorough understanding of hosted data center strategies and operational considerations
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical certifications
- 3+ years of network operations and engineering mandatory
Special Requirements:
- Embraces both technical and process maturity in support of continuously available and secure solutions
- Advanced level of technical expertise including:
- A thorough understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking
- An advanced level of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of common network monitoring utilities
- Advanced knowledge of network security topics through all layers of the OSI model
- Advanced diagnostics and performance analysis of distributed systems as they relate to the network. This will include all aspects of the presentation, processing and data layers of a given solution.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
- Tested project management and project leadership skills

- Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge
