About The Job


As part of Generation Singapore, the Assistant/Programme Manager will join a fast-paced, collaborative team dedicated to creating impact for jobseekers in Singapore. They will manage the end-to-end preparation, delivery and reporting of a multi-stakeholder collaborative programme aiming to improve the employment outcome for ITE graduates. They will report directly to the Curriculum & Instruction Lead and collaborate closely with external stakeholders and other internal functions to create impact in the lives of the Generation learners. 


Their main responsibilities include:

  1. Oversee recruitment and screening process for programme participants (learners and mentors) to meet the desired enrolment target and Generation’s fit criteria 
  2. Oversee end-to-end project management to ensure that the programme meets its objectives and committed outcome/impact metrics, including close engagement with and support for learners and mentors throughout the programme period 
  3. Identify, convert and engage prospective employers to secure job apprenticeship placement for learners, and provide support to employers throughout the apprenticeship phase of the programme  
  4. General stakeholder management and coordination, as well as project monitoring and reporting  


The position is a two-year contract role with the possibility of extension.

You will be part of Generation: You Employed, Singapore a local charity with a mission to create meaningful career pathways for people facing barriers to employment. We are an affiliate of Generation: You Employed, a global network of non-profit organisations working on a mission to bridge the gap between education and employment systems to prepare, place and support people into meaningful jobs that are otherwise inaccessible. Generation was created in 2014 to help bridge this gap—at speed and scale. Till date, Generation has supported more than 100,000 people of all ages across 18 countries to get into career-launching jobs.Our placement rates are one of the best in the market at nearly 86% of all Generation graduates securing full-time jobs within 180 days from completing the programme.

Generation programmes prepare unemployed or underemployed people of all ages for jobs in four sectors: healthcare, technology, retail/sales, and skilled trades.


What Will You Do


1.Recruitment and Screening (20%) 

  • Collaborate with ITE to design, plan and execute outreach and recruitment among ITE students, including via social media, email marketing and campus-based outreach 
  • Collaborate with corporate partner to design, plan and execute outreach and recruitment among corporate volunteers as programme mentors 
  • Process participants’ and mentors’ applications by screening and shortlisting suitable applicants according to Generation’s internal recruitment framework 
  • Develop communication materials to onboard and prepare shortlisted participants and mentors for enrolment in the programme 


2.Project Management (40%) 

  • Plan, manage and execute programme from end-to-end, in collaboration with Curriculum & Instruction Lead, instructors and ITE
  • Liaise with, guide and support participants and mentors, ensuring strong consistent engagement and high level of participation throughout the programme; including suggesting ways to minimize attrition and troubleshoot operational issues as they arise
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee programme activities and events, both in-classroom (in-person/virtual) and in external/public venues  
  • Monitor participants and mentors’ engagement and success by conducting programme activities, surveys, and check-ins, and assisting in collection and consolidation of data regarding the programme
  • Attend to participants’ and mentors’ concerns and issues, encouraging peer support to resolve common concerns, and escalating where required to relevant internal/external stakeholders 
  • Communicate in a timely and appropriate manner with internal/external stakeholders including Curriculum & Instruction Lead, instructor, and programme partners to support programme success


3.Employer Engagement and Placement (30%) 

In collaboration with Employer Partnerships & Placement function and ITE, to:

  • Conduct cold outreach to prospective employer partners and successfully convert them into warm leads as employment host organizations 
  • Be the main liaison point for employment host organizations throughout participants’ apprenticeship phase of the programme
  • Plan, coordinate and execute application support/placement preparation activities with participants, including employability workshop, resume review, mock interviews.
  • Monitor and conduct regular data reporting on participants’ apprenticeship progress and provide internal stakeholders with learner data 


4.Stakeholder coordination and reporting (10%)

  • Main point of liaison with a range of project stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, including corporate funders, corporate volunteers, government agencies, and ITE staff
  • Support with any project reporting requirements and communication as needed


To Be Successful You'll Need to Have/Be:


  • An individual who enjoys working with people and has a passion for supporting jobseekers of all ages to gain employment
  • Excellent multitasking, planning, prioritisation and organising skills; good orientation to detail and time management 
  • An adept communicator who is able to customise their communication style to diverse segments (especially ITE youth, corporate volunteers and employers), including alternating between supportive and directive style with equal level of comfort
  • Able to remain calm in adverse situations and think quickly on your feet 
  • Confident speaking to a large group of participants and making presentations to explain complex messages to participants in a simple manner 
  • Experience with curriculum design is preferred but not required
  • Comfortable with data entry and data management
  • Able to pick up digital tools for project management and open to taking additional training for tools like Salesforce, Asana, G-Suite, etc.
  • A self-starter who takes end-to-end ownership of tasks assigned; is open to asking for help where required, looks out for areas for improvement and implements developments in your own work, and can collaborate extensively across the organisation
  • Committed to prioritise learner interest and well-being, while balancing it against other stakeholders’ interests and organizational mission


Qualifications: 


  • 3-5 years of experience in project/programme management, especially with multi-stakeholder partners
  • Open to all educational qualifications if you match the competencies mentioned above
  • Prior experience in education, student management, volunteer management, customer service, hospitality will be preferred
  • Familiarity with tertiary education sector, especially ITE, is highly desirable
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Singapore
