Remote/Hybrid in Aachen | Project Duration: TBD | Start: ASAP

We are looking for a skilled Freelance PHP/Laravel Developer to join us on a project basis and help enhance and modernize our existing Laravel-based platform — consisting of a backend API and a web frontend.

Your Mission

You’ll take ownership of key modernization steps in our application architecture — from authentication and access control to containerization and deployment.

Key tasks include:

• Authentication Modernization: Migrate existing authentication to a unified OpenID Connect flow. - Current setup: session-based auth (frontend) + Laravel Sanctum (API) - Goal: aligned, secure, and modern OpenID Connect-based authentication
• Authorization Layer: Implement fine-grained access control with Laravel Policies, ensuring robust role- and user-based permissions.
• Containerization & Deployment: Containerize the full stack for seamless deployment in AWS Fargate.

Tech Stack & Requirements

• Proven experience with Laravel (v9+) and PHP 8+
• Strong understanding of OpenID Connect / OAuth2
• Experience with Docker and AWS ECS/Fargate
• Solid grasp of Laravel Policies, middleware, and RESTful API design

Nice to have:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
• Familiarity with Terraform or AWS CDK
• Basic understanding of frontend frameworks (Vue.js, React, etc.)
