Remote (with quarterly presence in Luxembourg)
At wBrain, we are looking for a seasoned Cybersecurity Manager to lead a high-impact initiative with one of Europe’s most strategic institutions — the European Commission. This role involves managing the deployment of cybersecurity solutions that are aligned with EU regulations, technical best practices, and strategic governance frameworks.
This is a freelance B2B contract, primarily remote, with a quarterly on-site presence required in Luxembourg.
📌 Key Responsibilities
- Program & Project Leadership
- Plan and manage the end-to-end deployment of cybersecurity solutions using Prince2, Agile, or Waterfall methodologies.
- Governance & Compliance
- Translate EU business and regulatory requirements into secure, auditable deliverables aligned with ISO standards and European Commission frameworks.
- Integration & Operations
- Ensure new systems integrate effectively with the Commission’s Cybersecurity Operations Centre (CSOC) and existing incident detection and response infrastructure.
- Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with diverse stakeholders across technical, operational, and governance areas to deliver measurable improvements in security posture.
- Service Management
- Apply ITIL-based frameworks to ensure service continuity, effective change control, and compliance with performance metrics.

- Experience:
- â–Ş 20+ years of experience in IT and cybersecurity operations, preferably in international or public-sector settings.
- â–Ş Proven record of successfully delivering cybersecurity programs in complex, regulated environments.
- Technical Proficiency:
- â–Ş ITIL or equivalent Service Management practices
- â–Ş ISO 27001, ISO 22301 or equivalent certification standards
- â–Ş SOC environments, threat detection, and critical infrastructure protection
- â–Ş Integration of cybersecurity solutions into large-scale operational systems
- Soft Skills:
- â–Ş Advanced understanding of cyber threat landscapes
- â–Ş Stakeholder management across technical, business, and regulatory domains
- â–Ş Excellent communication in international, multi-lingual contexts
- â–Ş Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capabilities
