We’re hiring a Founding Engineer for Alantra – the AI CFO project by Virtus Ventures

You won’t need to say that you learned how to understand financial data, manage people, or sell services. It will be obvious through your work.

We don’t care what you studied before or what you want to “learn” here.

What matters to us is that you’ll get things done.

We’re hiring a Founding Engineer for Alantra - with two full-time engineers from top institutions already on board. Our goal is to move this from part time to a full time position as soon as possible.

Why this is different:

We have a working MVP, a pipeline of ~30 companies ready to onboard, and senior finance leaders with executive backgrounds at top bulge-bracket investment banks backing us. Your work won’t disappear into a backlog - you’ll take Alantra from powerful prototype to category-defining product.

What you’ll do (end-to-end ownership):

People & product: partner with leadership, scope work, and set engineering standards.

Operations & quality: evolve our event-driven data pipelines and make them boring-reliable.

Product development: ship features founders feel - board-ready metrics, scenario planning, auto-generated decks, a Slack finance copilot.

Integrations: build rock-solid connectors (QuickBooks, Stripe, HubSpot, etc.) that “plug once” and just work.

Stack you’ll shape:

Backend: Python (FastAPI), Postgres, AWS (event-driven)

Frontend: React + TypeScript with rich data-viz

Security, architecture, hiring roadmap - you set the tone

What’s on the table:

Meaningful revenue share during collaboration on all closed deals (%)

~20 hrs/week to start with short async syncs (Mon/Wed/Fri)

Path to meaningful, co-founder-level equity & salary

Direct say in product, strategy, and culture

Ideal profile:

Senior engineer who has shipped a data/fintech product end-to-end

Strong across integrations, infra, and product decisions

Biased to action - you measure your week in shipped value

Netherlands, Germany or US based

Your first week (sample)

Day 1: access, repos, and a Linear project with everything you need.

Day 2-3: ship an integration improvement that cuts data latency.

Day 4: pair with PM to add “board-ready metrics” to a live account.

Day 5: ship a safety/observability upgrade and write the playbook.

Interns (US/EU only)

We also welcome interns on a CS bachelor’s track with proven product knowledge (shipped projects, hackathons, open source, or real users). US and EU only.
