As a Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, deploying, and operating our global core network. This position combines engineering, deployment, and advanced support responsibilities, ensuring that our Points of Presence (POPs) and backbone remain reliable, scalable, and secure. You will work on the full lifecycle of POPs — from configuration and installation to ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting escalated issues. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in both project delivery and operational support. This role is based in Barcelona, Spain



About the Role

This position combines engineering, deployment, and advanced support responsibilities, ensuring that our Points of Presence (POPs) and backbone remain reliable, scalable, and secure.



Responsibilities

POP Build & Deployment

  • Configure and deploy core routers, switches, optical transport, and security appliances.
  • Perform rack-and-stack, cabling, and site readiness activities.
  • Conduct acceptance testing and validation for new POP builds and expansions.


Core Network Operations & Maintenance

  • Apply firmware updates, security patches, and configuration changes during planned maintenance windows.
  • Monitor capacity and utilization, recommending and implementing upgrades as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, diagrams, and CMDB records for all POP infrastructure.


Tier 3 Escalated Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex faults escalated from Support and NOC teams.
  • Perform deep packet inspection, routing analysis, and advanced diagnostics to identify root cause.
  • Implement workarounds and permanent fixes to restore service quickly and reliably.


Collaboration & Standards

  • Work with senior engineers to follow and improve design standards and configuration templates.
  • Provide input into network architecture decisions and future technology adoption.
  • Train and mentor Tier 2 staff on common issues and procedures.


Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in ISP, carrier, or large-scale enterprise networking.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent technical training
  • Ability to verbally join calls internally and or with customers and vendors.
  • Hands-on experience with service provider routing and switching (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EVPN).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with packet capture tools, monitoring platforms, and diagnostics.
  • Cisco and Mikrotik knowledge.
  • Experience with physical deployment: cabling, fiber patching, rack installation.
  • Familiarity with network security practices (ACLs, firewalls, secure device management).
  • Comfortable working in POPs / data centers and performing on-site work.


Required Skills

  • Experience with optical transport (DWDM, transceivers, line systems).
  • Knowledge of automation frameworks (Python, Ansible, Netmiko/NAPALM).
  • Exposure to monitoring systems (Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus).
  • Certifications such as CCNP Service Provider, JNCIP-SP, or equivalent


Salary

€40,000–€60,000 per year
