Role Overview
As a 3D Environment & Design Artist (Unity 3D), you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing environments. You’ll take ownership of spaces from concept and 3D blockout to final polished environments, with a focus on performance, usability, and aesthetic quality.
We’re looking for someone who can excel in both realistic and stylized 3D environments, creating immersive spaces that are visually compelling yet lightweight for web delivery. You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to bring Co.Society’s vision to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, model, texture, and implement high-quality 3D environments in Unity.
- Create mostly realistic, but also stylized environments that reflect different brand moods, aesthetics, and functional needs.
- Produce concept art, blockouts, and level layouts, and iterate through to final production assets.
- Develop and optimize lighting, materials, and shaders to achieve the desired mood and performance targets.
- Ensure environments are highly optimized for web (WebGL / WebGPU) — including LODs, batching, occlusion culling, baked lighting, and draw call reduction.
- Collaborate with the product team to ensure environments align with user experience goals and brand identity.
- Participate in design reviews, play tests, and feedback sessions to refine spaces.
- Maintain clean naming conventions, project structure, and proper use of version control.
- Continuously push quality and performance by staying current with Unity best practices and real-time rendering trends.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience creating realistic and stylized 3D game environments in Unity for at least 5 years.
- Strong background in concept design, environmental game development workflows, and translating vision into polished spaces.
- Experience in leading team members, 3d artists to execute the artistic vision and technical requirements.
- Deep knowledge of lighting, materials, shaders, and environment assembly in Unity.
- Solid understanding of environmental storytelling, composition, scale, and level design principles.
- Experience with performance optimization for web-based (WebGPU, WebGL).
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Comfortable working remotely in fast-paced startup environments.
- Self-motivated, organized, and proactive in delivering high-quality work.
- Version control (GitHub or similar).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience with VFX, ambience, or interactive environment design.
- Experience in 3d showrooms and exhibition types of environments.
