Limestone Analytics (Limestone) is an international consulting firm, specializing in the economic analysis of public policies, social programs, and international development projects. Since our inception in 2016, Limestone has successfully completed assignments for governments, multilaterals, and large NGOs around the world, including USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the World Bank, World Vision, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Health Organization, and Nutrition International.
The Role
Limestone is seeking an intern for a short-term engagement on a web development project. This assignment would be suitable for a university student studying economics, computer science, or a similar degree who is looking to gain industry experience. The work is expected to require up to 80 hours of the intern's effort beginning in October 2025 and ending in late November 2025. Responsibilities may include:
- Reference a set of user interface mockups (created in Figma) and write code to implement design changes in the existing codebase of a web-based economic analysis tool.
- Submit code to the Technical Manager in appropriate, well-documented increments
- Participate in code reviews with the Technical Manager.
- Systematically test the updated code's UI and behaviour to ensure alignment with expectations
Requirements
Qualifications
- Student studying economics, computer science, or a similar degree;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Excellent English reading and writing abilities;
- Ability to work independently (under supervision) and manage progress towards milestones, subject to deadlines;
- Ability to independently and collaboratively identify, clearly describe, and solve problems;
- Strong front-end web development aptitude;
- Demonstrated learning through coursework is preferred.
- Familiarity/experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript and modern React is required
- Familiarity/experience with Material UI is preferred.
- Familiarity/experience with git and GitHub is required
Salary, Benefits, & Work Environment
- $23 CAD / hr. The internship rate is set by our funding partner.
- This role is mainly remote; however, the intern will have the opportunity to use Limestone's Kingston office space as desired. The student may be asked to attend meetings or training in the office from time to time
- Hours are flexible. The student will be required to meet deadlines and attend scheduled meetings, but will have the ability to complete work in a way that complements their school and personal schedules.
- Expected LOE (level of effort) is 80 hours between October and December 2025. There is potential for a second internship/ project upon completion of the project.
- This internship will be posted in partnership with a third-party organization. Hiring for this internship is conditional on successful onboarding to the partner platform. *No action is required of applicants until successful completion of the hiring process.
- Due to the requirements of the funder of this internship, in order to qualify, the intern must:
- Be a currently enrolled student
- Reside in Canada
- Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
