Project Controls Lead – Data Centre Projects (Finland)

A leading global consultancy in the Data Centre sector is seeking a Project Controls Lead to join its growing team in Finland.

This is a pivotal opportunity to take ownership of project controls on high-profile Data Centre projects across the Nordics. You will establish and manage cost and schedule baselines, implement control processes and tools, and ensure risks, opportunities, and changes are managed effectively throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of project controls—cost, schedule, and change management—ensuring alignment with client objectives.
  • Evaluate and monitor project performance against time, cost, and quality targets, ensuring robust governance and reporting.
  • Collaborate with a remote cost management team to develop and maintain a market-tested cost baseline.
  • Develop and maintain cost reports, executive dashboards, and forecasts.
  • Guide and influence general contractors and vendors to ensure progress within agreed schedules and cash flow parameters.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the client on all project controls matters, providing clear communication and reporting.
  • Identify trends and root causes of deviations from baselines and implement corrective actions to optimise outcomes.
  • Lead and manage the change management process, ensuring timely and accurate impact assessments and approvals.
  • Integrate procurement lead times into the master schedule to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Hold vendors accountable for schedule updates and reporting accuracy, maintaining high standards across the programme. Facilitate planning workshops with clients and vendors to compile the master schedule, agree baselines, and identify critical paths.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Availability for on-site work in Finland with the option for flexability once embedded in the project, dependant on project requirements.
  • 10+ years’ experience in project controls, ideally within large-scale Data Centre or high-technology projects.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycles, business case development, and capital project planning.
  • Experience with various procurement methods and contract forms.
  • Proven client-facing experience with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Indepth knowledge of the construction industry and current Data Centre sector trends.
  • University degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent are advantageous.
