Guru Pay is an EMI based in Lithuania, with a mission to deliver personalized, boutique financial services to B2B, B2C, and C2B customers. We are highly ambitious - focusing on speed, security, and top-tier quality in everything we do.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager who combines strong technical foundations with people-first leadership. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on developing high-performing teams, guiding technical direction, and fostering an environment where engineers can do their best work. You will balance hands-on technical engagement with team leadership to deliver high-quality, impactful products.

You will report to the CTO and have a unique opportunity to help build a dream software delivery organisation where speed of delivery is in balance with quality.

What will you do:

Delivery & Execution

  • Oversee the team's delivery, ensure commitments are met, priorities are set and understood, and blockers are addressed
  • Work closely with a product manager to understand and translate business requirements into technical deliveries. Ensure technical work finds its place and is being prioritized
  • Ensure engineering best practices, security standards, and compliance policies are consistently followed.
  • Ensure the team delivers robust, maintainable, and scalable systems while adhering to high engineering standards
  • Champion best practices in observability, reliability, testing, and performance
  • Participate in high-level architectural discussions and ensure alignment with long-term technical strategy

Team Health & Culture

  • Create and sustain a healthy team environment that values openness, trust, and psychological safety
  • Support team-building activities and initiatives that strengthen engagement

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team

People Management

  • Take care of your team: Conduct regular 1:1s, feedback sessions, and growth planning with individual engineers
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide structured feedback, and have a strong say in promotions, compensation, and role changes
  • Manage hiring, onboarding, and team composition
  • Define career paths and growth opportunities for engineers at different levels and support them on their chosen path
  • Address and resolve conflicts constructively
  • Handle sensitive personnel matters, including underperformance or disciplinary actions

What we expect:

  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering management or team lead role, with 5+ years in software engineering overall
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers, helping them grow technically and professionally
  • Proven track record of leading teams to ship high-quality software on time and within scope
  • Solid background in backend or full-stack development, with hands-on familiarity in at least one modern language (we speak PHP)
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and API design
  • Experience establishing and evolving engineering processes - from code reviews to deployment practices
  • Comfortable working closely with product managers and other stakeholders to align technical work with business goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiar with cloud-native ecosystems (we are using AWS)
  • Background in data-informed leadership - using metrics and feedback loops to guide engineering strategy
  • Business-level communication fluency in English
  • Located anywhere in Lithuania, willing to travel to the Vilnius office for two days per week

Nice to haves:

  • Background in FinTech, payments, or other regulated domains with security/compliance considerations is a strong plus
  • Hands-on involvement in hiring, career frameworks, and performance reviews

What will you get:

  • A starting salary of 6000 EUR Gross (negotiable based on experience)
  • 2nd pillar pension coverage
  • Encouragement and budget to support your professional development and certifications
  • Extra vacation day on your birthday
  • Hybrid work options between our Vilnius office (3 days a week) and anywhere in Lithuania
  • Regular workations, health challenges, and other team initiatives
  • A team that values code quality, end-user experience, and continuous improvement
