Junior Software Engineer, R&D

Daice Labs, founded by MIT CSAIL scientists, builds hybrid frameworks that integrate LLMs/DL with symbolic reasoning and bio-inspired system design to create adaptable AI systems capable of continual learning and explainable decision-making. Daice Labs operates under two main tracks: the Product Lab, which focuses on building a collaboration platform where human teams co-build with hybrid AI, and the AI Research Lab, which uses principles of natural intelligence to guide the design of hybrid AI architectures. We believe the next leap in productivity comes from the collaboration between human teams and specialized AIs working together on shared contexts.

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Junior Software Engineer in our R&D Adapting machines Lab. The Junior Software Engineer will work on developing and maintaining software solutions, with a focus on back-end web development and programming. Daily tasks include implementing and testing software features, debugging and optimizing code, and collaborating with team members to ensure high-quality deliverables. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to the integration of hybrid AI architectures within our platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and understanding of Computer Science principles
• Experience in Back-End Web Development and Software Development
• Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and remotely
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Experience with AI systems or hybrid frameworks is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Basic knowledge of back-end devops and API/MCP/agent plugin integration
• Experience with database structure SQL or similar
• Exposure to cloud services and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with platform engineering concepts (containers, deployments, monitoring).
• Experience with cursor, windsurf, codex, claude code, gemini cli or similars.
• Experience with github actions/monorepos
• Experience with prompt and context engineering .
