We’re on a journey to modernise a mature SaaS platform and evolve how we build software, embracing strong engineering craft, responsible AI, and a clear architectural direction. As Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you’ll play a central role in this transformation.

We’re looking for a hands-on, architecturally-minded leader who can shape how we build, empower distributed teams (in Norway and India), and represent CatalystOne confidently in front of customers and investors. If you’re excited by clear decision-making, flat structures, and Nordic trust and autonomy, this might be your next big role!

CatalystOne is a Scandinavian success story. Our Human Capital Management (HCM) platform helps more than 350 organisations and over 600,000 users streamline their HR processes across the Nordics. From core HR to performance management and beyond, we make it easier for businesses to work efficiently, securely, and at scale.

We’re proud to partner with well-known companies such as COOP, ATEA, PEAB, Vy and Vinmonopolet – supporting a wide range of industries on their digital HR journeys. Together, we’re building stronger people processes for the modern workplace.

What you’ll lead
  • Our engineering organisation across Norway and India
  • Architecture and platform engineering
  • Technical consulting and our integration platform
  • A close strategic partnership with the Chief Product Officer
What you’ll do
  • Lead architectural thinking: Chair our architecture board, guide high-impact design decisions, and stay close to the details when it matters.
  • Modernise the platform: Support teams in reducing the legacy code, defining clear service boundaries, and building for long-term maintainability.
  • Improve ways of working: Strengthen CI/CD, observability, incident response, SLOs, and cost efficiency across our Azure and Kubernetes environments.
  • Leverage AI where it counts: Use AI practically to lift engineering productivity and help teams move faster and smarter.
  • Partner with customers: Engage with key enterprise customers, explaining how we build and run our platform to support trust and transparency.
  • Support growth and scale: Help us prepare for future M&A opportunities by contributing to technical due diligence (both sell-side and buy-side).
  • Develop our teams: Support an effective, scalable team structure across locations. Champion change where needed—and do it with care.
What success looks like

Within your first 6–12 months, we’ll look for momentum and meaningful progress in a few key areas:

  • Stronger delivery confidence: Engineering teams are able to support product plans with greater predictability and quality.
  • Clear architectural direction: A pragmatic roadmap exists to modernise legacy code, with milestones and ownership in place.
  • Better ways of working: Improvements in deployment frequency, lead time, and incident response time begin to take root—with a thoughtful plan for AI integration.
  • Visible progress: Teams are adopting new patterns, metrics show a positive trend, and customer conversations reflect confidence in our platform.
What you’ll bring
  • Proven experience as a hands-on technical leader, ideally from high-scale enterprise grade SaaS environments.
  • Ideally 10+ years in software development and at least 5 years leading distributed or hybrid teams.
  • Strong architectural skills: you’re confident chairing design reviews, but also comfortable jumping into the code or diagrams.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure (Azure, Kubernetes), CI/CD, and observability best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills: you speak clearly about trade-offs and direction with both technical teams and enterprise customers.
  • Experience with technical due diligence is a plus, but learning fast matters more than ticking every box.
How we work
  • Local decision-making: You’ll work closely with our CEO and CPO in Oslo. We move fast and back our leaders.
  • Trust & clarity: We aim for clearly defined roles and the autonomy to do great work.
  • Global mindset, local focus: You’ll lead teams across Norway and India, designed around collaboration and outcomes, not hierarchy. Occasional travel is expected.
Why candidates choose CatalystOne
  • A seat at the table: You’ll shape architecture, operations, and how we work, not just oversee it.
  • Real impact, real scale: Our platform is relied on by hundreds of organisations across Scandinavia.
  • Freedom to modernise: We’re ready for change and you’ll have strong executive backing to make it happen.
  • Less noise, more outcomes: We’re not driven by politics or layers of bureaucracy. We’re here to build.
