Data Governance and Compliance Expert

📍 Location: Muscat, Oman (On-site)

⏰ Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

📅 Contract: 8-month engagement + optional 12-month operational extension

In this role you will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of data governance frameworks and compliance standards. The role ensures data management best practices align with DAMA principles, supports data policy formulation, compliance audits, metadata management, and staff training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct data audits and compliance assessments, identifying areas for improvement.
• Provide expert guidance on data classification, access control, and lifecycle management.
• Lead adoption of DAMA DMBOK-aligned best practices.
• Deliver training sessions to enhance data governance awareness.
• Collaborate with IT, Legal, and Business stakeholders to enforce governance frameworks.
• Prepare regular reports and updates for senior management and audit committees.
• Drive continuous improvement in data management maturity and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, protection, and management regulations.
• Establish a data stewardship model and oversee metadata management and lineage.
• Develop, implement, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures.

Technical / Functional skills:

• Data governance frameworks (DAMA DMBOK)
• Metadata management and data lineage tools
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance (GDPR, data protection standards)
• Familiarity with policy formulation and audit reporting

Minimum requirements:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in data governance, compliance, or related domains
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or related field
• Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) – Mandatory
• English (mandatory); Arabic (advantageous)
