About The Role

AI has upended how developers learn, get hired, and grow their careers. HackerRank has already helped 26M+ developers build skills and find jobs. Now, we are reinventing the developer lifecycle with AI: prepare with AI mock interviewers, get hired with AI proctors and coding assistants, and upskill with AI tutors.

We’re hiring a Product Designer motivated by impact and inspired by innovation. You will own the end-to-end experience of a core product area, influence strategy, set direction, and partner closely with engineering to deliver experiences users love. The right person brings broad design skills, refined taste, and extreme ownership. Ideally, you are a self-starter who has leaned into how AI is changing what we build and how we work.

What You’ll Do

• Work closely with peers and leaders in Engineering and Product to conceptualize new experiences and drive their design from ideation to visual and interactive design through prototyping.
• Proactively research and prototype your ideas, including adopting new tools that shorten the time between concept and delivery.
• Seek out input from colleagues, customers, and the market by building strong cross-functional relationships and conducting regular discovery and research.
• Set and hold the bar for top-quality experiences by deepening your understanding of the developer ecosystem, competitive products, and new UX paradigms.
• Contribute to HackerRank’s design system and documentation, raising our design culture and standards.
• Care deeply about the full user journey, from first touch through related experiences.
• Manage competing priorities and act decisively in the face of ambiguity.
• Contribute to the overall design and product culture at HackerRank.

• Have exposure to AI models and tools, with a perspective on how the space is evolving (experience with AI-powered IDEs like Cursor or Bolt is a plus).
• You advocate for quality and push peers and leaders to hold a high bar.
• Operate with an owner’s mindset, set personal goals, navigate ambiguity, and spot opportunities.
• You collaborate deeply, pulling others into creative thinking and extending past your comfort zone to learn new skills and technical concepts.

• You have experience as a developer or design-engineer, even if self-taught through vibe-coding.
• You are already using AI prototyping tools and can show how you’ve adapted your process.
• You have done public speaking or published writing about your design experiences, with examples online.
