Java Developer

We are currently looking for a Java Developer / Scrum Master for one of our clients in the public sector.

Your Responsibilities

Software Development & Maintenance

• Design, develop, and maintain Java applications within the Orion team.
• Adapt existing code or create new functionalities in line with business needs.
• Refactor legacy code and ensure adherence to development standards and security requirements.
• Perform unit and integration testing to maintain high-quality deliverables.
• Manage deployments, version control, and CI/CD processes in Jenkins.

Technical Analysis & Architecture

• Conduct technical analysis and create detailed technical designs.
• Collaborate with the Application Architect to define and implement optimal software architectures.
• Identify and proactively reduce technical debt, ensuring clean and maintainable code.

Agile Project Management (Scrum Master Role)

• Act as Scrum Master within the development team, facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Support the Product Owner in managing the backlog and sprint priorities.
• Coach junior and medior developers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure smooth application of Agile principles and continuous improvement within the team.

Your Profile

Experience & Knowledge

• Strong expertise in Java and the J2EE ecosystem (Hibernate, EJB3, web services).
• Proficiency with Spring, JBoss, REST and SOAP web services.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD (Jenkins), IntelliJ, OpenGrok, and Miro.
• Good command of SQL (advanced querying) and modelling tools such as UML and BPMN.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
• Familiarity with quality assurance processes and continuous integration techniques.

• Ability to coach and mentor junior developers.

Education & Languages

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in a public sector environment is a plus.
• Good knowledge of English and at least one national language (French or Dutch).
