For our client, a dynamically growing e-commerce company, we are seeking a Senior QA Engineer (Test Automation).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated E2E test suites using Playwright or similar frameworks.
  • Collaborate with developers and product owners to define clear, testable acceptance criteria and ensure high-quality releases.
  • Apply the testing pyramid effectively, balancing unit, integration, and end-to-end testing for optimal coverage.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Buildkite, GitHub Actions) and monitor their reliability.
  • Perform API testing (REST APIs) and exploratory testing for complex or UI-rich features.
  • Analyze test results, document defects, and support continuous improvement of testing processes and tools.

Requirements

Core Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years in software QA, with 2+ years focused on test automation
  • Proven experience writing and maintaining E2E test suites using Playwright or similar
  • Strong understanding of the testing pyramid and when to apply unit, integration, and E2E tests
  • Familiarity with React-based applications, especially asynchronous and component-based behavior
  • Comfortable working in a TypeScript + React frontend environment
  • Able to read and understand Vitest and React Testing Library test suites (even if not owning them)
  • Experience testing REST APIs, using tools like Postman, Playwright API testing, or RSpec request specs
  • Practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how tests integrate into them (e.g., Buildkite, GitHub Actions)
  • Experience with manual regression and exploratory testing for UI-rich or legacy areas

Tooling & Stack Familiarity

  • Test automation: Playwright, or similar
  • Component testing: React Testing Library, Vitest
  • Backend API awareness: Ruby on Rails (reading specs, inspecting API responses)

Strategic & Collaborative Skills

  • Comfortable collaborating with developers and product owners to define testable acceptance criteria
  • Ability to identify high-value test flows and automate accordingly (not just test everything)
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams in agile environments
  • Capable of training or mentoring team members on test tooling or best practices

Other Requirements

  • Fluent in English (written & spoken)
  • Comfortable working remotely in a distributed team (EU time zones preferred)
