The Fashion Product Design Assistant supports the creative and technical development of fashion collections from concept to final production. This role works closely with designers, merchandisers, and production teams to transform design ideas into commercially viable products. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, creative, and passionate about fashion, with a strong understanding of design processes, materials, and current market trends.
Key Responsibilities- Assist senior designers in developing seasonal concepts, mood boards, and color palettes.
- Conduct trend and market research on fabrics, silhouettes, trims, and styles to support collection planning.
- Create and update technical drawings, illustrations, and design sheets using Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
- Support in preparing tech packs and specifications for sampling and production.
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and factories regarding fabric sourcing, sample requests, and quality checks.
- Participate in fittings and sample reviews, documenting feedback and ensuring design accuracy.
- Organize and manage fabric swatches, trims, samples, and reference materials.
- Support product development timelines to ensure on-time delivery of designs and prototypes.
- Maintain and update the design database, digital files, and product archives.
- Collaborate with merchandising and marketing teams to ensure design alignment with brand strategy and market positioning.
- Assist in preparing presentation materials, lookbooks, and product line overviews for internal and external meetings.
- Monitor production progress and provide support to resolve design-related issues.
- Participate in photo shoots, collection launches, and promotional activities when required.
- Stay current with fashion trends, technology, and sustainable design practices.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of experience in fashion design, product development, or related roles (internship experience acceptable for entry-level).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, patterns, and materials.
- Excellent eye for color, texture, and detail with strong visual presentation skills.
- Knowledge of trend forecasting, consumer behavior, and fashion market dynamics.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration across departments.
- Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Passion for creativity, innovation, and continuous learning in the fashion industry.
