Senior UX Manager – Global UX & Design

Type of Employment: Permanent

Location: Oslo, Norway

What You'll Do

The Senior UX Manager ensures a cohesive and strategic design approach across all digital products within our Core Digital Experience domain. Operating at both strategic and operational levels, this role defines a unified experience vision that supports short-term product goals and long-term scalability, aligning with Global product and technology objectives.

The Senior Product Design Manager serves as a leader and mentor to a team of UX Researchers, Service Designers, and UX designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture, while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to integrate design principles throughout the product lifecycle. Additionally, this role advocates for user-centric design at all organizational levels, promoting the value of design to senior leadership and ensuring decisions are informed by user research and data.

To succeed, the Senior UX Manager must possess expert-level expertise in UX/UI design, strong leadership capabilities, and excellent communication skills—able to articulate complex design concepts clearly while balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Design Leadership & Strategy

  • Establish and drive a unified design vision and strategy that aligns with Global product and technology objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in design processes and methodologies, ensuring the team works efficiently and effectively.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and integrate best practices into the design process, keeping the design team innovative and forward-thinking.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Co-mentor and guide a team of UX/UI designers (in collaboration with the line manager for UX & Service Designers), providing direction, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Develop design team job profiles, considering experience level,
  • proficiency, and aptitude to build a high-performing team.

Collaboration & Integration

  • Collaborate closely with group product managers, product managers, technical product owners and front-end engineering teams to integrate design principles throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Advocate for the user experience at all levels of the organization, ensuring design decisions are grounded in user research and data.
  • Promote design strategies and concepts to senior leadership, clearly communicating the value of design decisions and their impact on business objectives.

Job Qualification and Skills

Technical (Hard Skills)

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interaction Design, Graphical Design, Digital
  • Design, or equivalent. Alternatively, proven extensive experience in UX design
  • may substitute for a degree.
  • 11+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a strong track record in leading
  • design initiatives
  • Portfolio demonstrating design skills and experience across a range of digital
  • products.
  • Expert-level knowledge of UX/UI design principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma) and experience with collaborative design platforms.
  • Deep understanding of research methodologies to inform user-centric design
  • decisions.
  • Extensive experience with the development and maintenance of design systems.
  • Strong understanding of codification of design components for scalability and
  • consistency.
  • Solid knowledge of app and web design.
  • Proven experience coordinating and guiding other designers in a team setting.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).

  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to inspire and guide a team of designers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and strategies to diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Collaborative mindset, thriving in cross-functional teams with product managers and engineers.
  • Innovative and forward-thinking, with a passion for advancing design and user experience.
  • Highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Reporting & Collaboration

  • Reports to: Director of Global UX &. Design
  • Works closely with: Design Team, Group Product Managers, Product Managers and Engineering Teams
