Role Overview:
Working closely with Network Architects and product engineering teams, the Network Engineer focuses on automation and deployment of DCN fabrics, Kubernetes networking integrations, and WAN/LAN connectivity in line with approved designs. The Engineer supports development environments, prepares automation and documentation for customer deployments and upgrades, and provides escalation support for complex network issues.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Produce Low Level Designs (LLDs), rack elevations, cabling diagrams, and interconnect plans for deployments.
- Prepare configuration baselines, automation playbooks, and deployment templates to support repeatable rollouts and upgrades.
- Ensure network performance and monitoring requirements are included in all designs, with templates and integration points for telemetry, logging, and dashboards.
- Maintain and support networking in development environments, ensuring stability for product and engineering teams.
- Act as an SME advisor for Data Center Networking and Kubernetes networking a, supporting platform teams in integration and troubleshooting.
- Support deployment teams by providing documentation, technical guidance, and validation materials.
- Troubleshoot escalated L2/L3 networking issues and coordinate with Architects, platform teams, or vendors as needed.
- Contribute to testing and validation of new designs, hardware, and monitoring features in lab/staging environments.
- Create and maintain runbooks, operational guides, and monitoring baselines for both internal and customer environments.
- Coordinate with vendors to ensure compatibility and implementation guidance.
Qualification, Experience, Competence and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Telecom Engineering, or related field.
- 4–7 years of experience in network engineering, design preparation, and support for data center or cloud environments.
- Solid knowledge of L2/L3 networking and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Experience producing LLDs, rack elevations, cabling/interconnect plans, and deployment documentation.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes networking concepts (CNI, ingress/egress, service mesh) and SDN, with ability to provide SME-level support to platform teams.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Python) for configuration, deployment, and upgrade templates.
- Knowledge of performance monitoring, telemetry, and logging tools, with ability to define templates and baselines.
- Working knowledge of IPv6 and multicast in data center contexts is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with network security technologies and products.
- Experience working with vendors for TAC escalations, software upgrades, and deployment support.
- Vendor certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP) preferred; advanced certifications are a plus.
- Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills.
- Team-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across delivery, product engineering, and vendor teams.
