AS/400 System i (iASP) Administrator

Responsibilities

• Administer and support AS/400 System i running on iASP model, including planning, implementation, and upgrades;
• Manage OS400 security, BRMS backup, operations monitoring, alerting, and data replication;
• Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of 3rd party tools (e.g., MQ, Thenon, Windows Menu, Robot Schedule, Alert Console);
• Plan, review, and execute OS, PTF, and 3rd party software upgrades;
• Support PowerHA, Admin Domain, VIOS management, and copy services in an iASP environment;
• Troubleshoot data, application, and system performance issues using tools such as IBM iDoctor, DBMON Traces, and Job Watcher;
• Provide administration and operational support for IBM DS8K storage and SAN switches (including global and metro mirror);
• Implement and manage ACS client installation and setup, SKLM, and Spectrum Control;
• Ensure compliance with access and security guidelines for AS/400 networked systems;
• Collaborate with BAU project support and infrastructure teams, providing operational stability and project delivery;
• Support ITIL-based processes and contribute to continuous service improvement;

Requirements

• A good degree with experience in administration and troubleshooting of AS/400 System i with iASP model;
• Strong knowledge of IBM DS8K storage and SAN switches, including mirroring configurations;
• Good understanding of TCP/IP protocols and network troubleshooting techniques;
• Experience with PowerHA, Admin Domain, copy services, and VIOS management;
• Knowledge of SQL, CL, RPG, and proficiency with MS Office tools (including MS Access);
• Familiarity with ACS client, SKLM, Spectrum Control, and 3rd party system tools;
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices;
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for system, network, and application-level issues;
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously;
• Willingness to support off-hours or weekends when required for deployment and upgrade activities.
