Job Description
The team is part of the Developer Platform Experience organization with the mission to empower LinkedIn engineers to ship high quality products, with confidence and high velocity. We provide infrastructure, tooling and experiences that enable and promote automatic validations, diagnostics and analytics across various stages of the development lifecycle and various technology stacks. We partner with organizations and engineering teams across the company to build the right strategy and investments that boost engineering productivity and product quality.
As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for shaping the company-wide vision for accelerating developer productivity through data and insights, in partnership with engineering leaders across the company. You will be driving investments based on anything from industry best practices to innovative new AI technologies, need to address unique LinkedIn challenges and adapting to the rapidly-evolving engineering landscape. The responsibilities include, but not limited to, building smart data collection, processing and actionable insights generation machinery with the goal of enabling your fellow engineers to maximize their productivity towards delivering on LinkedIn’s vision of creating economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce.
Responsibilities:
- Driving company level developer productivity uplift through data and insights.
- Shape and execute on the developer productivity analytics and insights strategy across the company.
- Provide effective data and actionable insights driven guidance to Developer Productivity strategy at the company level.
- Own and drive the technical roadmap and architecture for the developer productivity analytics and insights infrastructure and processes
- Continuously improve telemetry coverage/quality and tighten definitions to evolve metrics that drive better business decisions.
- Help maximize developer productivity gains by guiding proper application of AI tools and technologies to accelerate pace of engineering at the company level.
- Build innovative telemetry and analytics solutions by leveraging best of breed AI tools & technologies in the developer productivity domain.
- Quantify outcomes when randomized tests aren’t feasible, using sound alternatives and communicating assumptions and limits clearly.
- Own, manage and extend services and infrastructure, constantly improving and adding new features, while driving operational excellence.
- Promote and drive best practices and industry standards across the company.
- Partner with engineers and teams across the company to guide, influence and iterate on their dev productivity strategies and build best in class developer productivity solutions.
- Lead and mentor the next generation of engineering leaders by building a culture of craftsmanship and innovation.
Basic Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions
- 5+ years of experience in programming languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, C#
- 2+ years of experience in an architect or technical leadership position
- BS and 10+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 6+ years of relevant work experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in the developer productivity domain in large engineering environments, including building, and operationalizing complex, reliable systems.
- Extremely passionate about data and insights as a key driver of organization engineering success.
- Development experience with AI tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Github co-pilot
- Proven record of measurement strategy in developer productivity - Crafting pragmatic plans, drive alignment across teams, and clearly present pros/cons to earn stakeholder buy-in.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, common deployment models and infrastructure, and various techniques used to safely introduce change into production environments.
- Demonstrable experience with application of data and insights to improve organizational engineering practices.
- Experience designing and building data processing applications, pipelines and infrastructure at scale.
- Strong hands-on experience with data processing pipeline technologies such as Spark, Flink, Trino, Airflow, Dagster, Openhouse, Lakehouse, Icerberg and Kafka.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.
- Experience with strategic planning, executing on a long term roadmap, team development and scaling processes to support business growth.

The pay range for this role is $181,000 to $297,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
