About the position:
The UI/UX Designer is responsible for designing visually compelling, modern, and responsive user interfaces for web applications, while contributing to the overall user experience strategy. This role blends aesthetic sensibility with practical implementation, requiring proficiency in CSS styling and a strong understanding of web technologies. The designer will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure designs are not only beautiful but functional and adaptable across devices. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, capable of contributing directly to styling tasks, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative web development environment. Listed below is an outline of the major duties and responsibilities that you will be expected to perform in this role:
· Design and implement modern, responsive UI components using CSS
· Collaborate with engineers to refine layouts and styling in interactive web applications
· Create mockups and prototypes to communicate design intent
· Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on visual consistency
· Contribute to the visual polish and usability of web applications
· Define and maintain design guidelines, style libraries, and reusable components
· Occasionally take on styling tickets to improve layout and presentation
· Work with stakeholders to understand visual goals and translate them into actionable designs
· Stay current with design trends and web styling best practices
· Support UX efforts as needed, including layout optimization and user flow refinement
Required Experience and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field
· 2–5 years of experience in UI/UX design for web applications
· A willingness and ability to obtain Secret DoD clearance, with Praeses’ assistance, if needed.
· Portfolio demonstrating modern, responsive design work and CSS styling capabilities
· Strong visual web design skills
· Proficiency in CSS and ability to style components directly
· Familiarity with HTML and basic JavaScript
· Experience designing for responsive, interactive web applications
· Ability to communicate design intent clearly to developers
· Understanding of usability principles and accessibility standards (WCAG)
· Comfortable working in Agile environments and contributing to SCRUM ceremonies
· Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
· Ability to take ownership of design tickets and implement styling changes
· Portfolio that reflects real-world design constraints and team-based deliverables
· Familiarity with UX research, wireframing, and user flow design
Preferred Additional Experience and Qualifications:
· Experience working with CUI or related sensitive data.
· Experience working on federal defense contracts.
· Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software.

Compensation Range:
$85,000 - $105,000 annual
