Company Description
HIDROMOD works around water. In a time of increasing pressure on inland and marine resources, continuous knowledge of these systems’ dynamics is fundamental. Our mission is to make this knowledge accessible to clients in energy, aquaculture, agriculture, and coastal engineering.
Since 2020, HIDROMOD has launched many different projects in Water Resources, Irrigation Planning, and Crop Detection. Our Inland Water Team develops solutions that combine satellite data, deterministic numerical models, machine learning, and data mining, transforming complex science into practical tools for clients.
As part of the ABL Group international network, HIDROMOD connects local expertise in Portugal with global innovation in marine, coastal, and water resource management, ensuring impact across Europe, Africa, and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze hydrological and environmental data (satellite, in-situ) to build monitoring and predictive models.
- Contribute to water resources management and planning activities.
- Develop and improve models, algorithms, and workflows.
- Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary, digital-first team.
- Support project delivery in sectors such as water management, sustainable agriculture, energy, and coastal engineering.
- Prepare documentation and reports aligned with HIDROMOD standards.
- Contribute to business development and client interaction when required.
- Engage in continuous technical and professional development.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Data Science, or a related field.
- 0–2 years relevant experience.
- Coding experience (Python, Fortran, or similar).
- Proficient knowledge of Portuguese.
- Proficient knowledge of English.
Desirable:
- MSc or PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of English, French, and/or Spanish.
- Experience with hydrological or environmental models (SWAT, MOHID-Land, HydroAquafarm, HEC-RAS).
Technical Skills
Essential:
- Predictive modeling and algorithm implementation.
- Programming skills (Python, Fortran, R, or similar).
- Proficiency with Excel, Access, or similar tools.
- GIS experience (QGIS).
Desirable:
- Hands-on experience with hydrological/environmental modeling software.
