The Fashion Product Design Assistant supports the design and development process of fashion collections from concept to production. This role involves assisting senior designers with research, sketching, material sourcing, and technical documentation. The ideal candidate is highly creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about fashion, with a strong understanding of design aesthetics, fabric properties, and current market trends.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development of seasonal concepts, mood boards, and color palettes in line with brand direction.
- Conduct market research and trend analysis to support the creative development of collections.
- Create technical sketches, digital illustrations, and design presentations using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Support in preparing detailed tech packs, including fabric details, trims, and measurement specifications.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to source fabrics, trims, and accessories.
- Track samples, manage revisions, and maintain an organized sample library.
- Assist in fittings, photo shoots, and collection reviews to ensure design intent and quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with product development, merchandising, and production teams to ensure smooth workflow from design to final product.
- Maintain organized documentation for designs, materials, and production timelines.
- Help prepare presentation materials such as lookbooks, product boards, and line sheets.
- Support sustainability and innovation initiatives in product design and material selection.
- Stay updated on fashion trends, new technologies, and market demands to contribute creative insights.
- Participate in meetings and contribute design ideas that align with the brand’s creative vision.
- Provide general administrative support to the design department when required.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in fashion design, product development, or a similar creative role (internship experience accepted for entry-level).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and textile properties.
- Excellent eye for color, proportion, and detail, with strong visual presentation skills.
- Understanding of fashion trends, consumer preferences, and market positioning.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with PLM systems, CAD, or 3D design tools is an advantage.
- Passion for creativity, innovation, and sustainability in fashion design.
