  • Monitor, support, and maintain computer systems and financial trading platforms
  • Operate as part of the global support team, providing coverage across all sites and data centres
  • Develop and implement tools (bespoke and third-party) to automate key areas of software engineering and delivery


Responsibilities:

Primarily accountable for the support and maintenance of all trading applications, alongside the development and implementation of tools to automate key software engineering processes. These include monitoring, continuous integration, testing, environment deployments, and releases. Also responsible for scripting routine manual tasks to enhance ongoing business processes.


Application Systems and Platform Support

  • Support, monitor, enhance, and operate both retail and institutional financial trading platforms, as well as other in-house applications.
  • Manage service delivery in line with ITIL standards for incident and problem management, escalating where appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with in-house Development and QA teams to align technical solutions with business and front office needs.
  • Coordinate and implement changes, patches, updates, and releases across applications.
  • Administer and improve monitoring tools to ensure optimal application availability and performance. Promptly identify and address outages or ongoing risks.
  • Develop and deploy automated scripts to standardise routine operational checks and tasks.
  • Support the line manager in identifying gaps within the support and service management framework and assist in implementing both temporary and permanent resolutions.
  • Contribute to the creation of automation tools and scripts aimed at optimising backend infrastructure.
  • Provide both onsite and remote user support as required.
  • Troubleshoot issues across core, trading, and niche applications from end to end.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and a strong willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Participate in out-of-hours and on-call support as needed.


Experience:

  • Proven experience supporting both Windows and Linux-based applications.
  • Hands-on support experience with Windows and Linux servers across virtualised, cloud-based, and bare metal environments (advantageous).
  • Development and scripting skills in one or more of the following: Python (preferred), C++, C#, Java, PowerShell, Ruby.
  • Manage and optimise cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS, ensuring high availability and scalability.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Grifana, Kibana, Puppet, Docker, Bamboo, Terraform, Kubernetes and GitLab
  • Minimum of six years’ experience in user support and systems management within multicultural and multinational environments.
  • Previous exposure to low-latency, high-frequency infrastructure environments is a strong advantage.
  • Experience and familiarity with PostgreSQL is desirable.
  • Exposure to working with heterogeneous database technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with cloud technologies is preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting Forex and Equity trading platforms is an added advantage.
  • Possession of IT certifications such as ITIL Foundation, MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, and Systems & Security accreditations is highly desirable.


Skills

  • In-depth understanding of the FIX protocol and its use in FX trading environments.
  • Extensive experience supporting client-facing SLAs and operating within tiered support frameworks, preferably under ITIL standards.
  • Proven experience with both Azure and AWS platforms, including deployment, monitoring, and automation.
  • Solid grasp of TCP/IP, SSL, and financial network technologies.
  • Familiar with MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, and MS SQL database technologies.
  • Sound knowledge of local and networked file systems such as NFS, DFS, NTFS, and DNS.
  • Competent in systems tools and protocols including SNMP, ManageEngine, Nagios, and Zabbix.
