Position Overview
We’re searching for a Software Engineer (Golang & React) for Applied’s Personal Lines Insurance Team.
To keep us headed in the right direction, we’re looking for people who understand winning is a team sport, who value and seek to learn from our team’s diverse experiences and backgrounds, who welcome a challenge and take risks in the pursuit of creating better outcomes for our customers, and who can, at any given time, step back to laugh and have some fun.
Operating in an Agile environment, you will help design, maintain, and test a web-based solution by utilizing an extensive tech stack, including Apigee, React, Golang, and SQL, along with JIRA, GitLab, Cypress, and RestSharp. This opportunity has a strong focus on testing methodologies and modern test automation implementation.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts with frameworks, using tools such as Cypress, RestSharp, etc.
- Work with the team to design and implement software, emphasizing quality principles, patterns, and testing practices.
- Design user-based interactions through effective front-end architecture.
- Review code written by peers, focusing on readability and efficiency.
- Continuously learn about new tools and technologies.
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering
- Experience in software development languages and frameworks, such as C#, .NET, OR Golang, React, as well as JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Knowledge of and experience with modern test strategies and quality gating policies within CI/CT/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of different types of testing, including unit, functional, regression, integration, load, and system testing. You understand the roles fulfilled by each and can determine appropriate applications for each within the development lifecycle.
- Experience with UI and API Testing, with frameworks such as RestSharp and Cypress
- Genuine passion for programming.
- You are driven by principles-based approaches to design, implementation, and testing.
- Strong understanding of the web development lifecycle and programming techniques and tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and a focus on effective problem-solving.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to fully engage in team discussions, debates, and reviews on coding approaches and design elements while maintaining a positive and constructive tone.
- Experience with building components and web applications in React.
- Experience with Golang.
- Experience with microservice architecture, cloud computing, and related technologies such as GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Apigee, Terraform, Helm, Istio, Envoy, and DataDog.
- Experience or training with Agile Scrum methodology.
- Experience with GitLab and continuous integration, best practices.
- Experience or training in REST web service development.
- Experience in security and performance testing.
- PostgreSQL database programming experience
- Insurance industry exposure
