What will you do?

  • Deep dive into core datasets in BigQuery, enriching the data catalog with detailed column-level descriptions and business context. Classify data assets, establish data lineage, and curate a comprehensive data dictionary to enhance data discovery and governance.
  • Quantify and optimize the cost/performance trade-offs of dbt materialization strategies (table, incremental, view) and BigQuery billing models (Standard vs. Editions) for high-traffic models. Implement environment-specific optimization strategies.
  • Develop and test a pipeline to push dbt run metadata (e.g., last run time) to Looker, enabling intelligent cache refreshes and improved dashboard performance.
  • Design and deploy a data quality monitoring loop that triggers Looker alerts based on failed dbt data quality tests, and measure incident response times.
  • Create a dbt-based process to automatically detect and remediate schema drift in source data, including generating alerts, model stops, or auto-migrations.
  • Analyze usage data to identify which dbt models drive the most value (e.g., most viewed dashboards, frequently run explores), and recommend models for deprecation or further optimization.
  • Assist in migrating legacy data models to the current data warehouse and support the deprecation of obsolete models.

About You

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, including data warehousing, data modeling, and data governance.
  • Experience or familiarity with SQL and cloud-based data platforms (ideally Google Cloud Platform).
  • Exposure to data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dealing with English speaking staff and reporting in English

  • Internship Allowance: 450€ per month (gross) with 8+ holiday days (based on 40h/week).
  • Travel Allowance: Max. 11,50€ per day (based on your travel distance), if you are not eligible for the free Student OV Chipcard.
  • Additional Benefits: Access to 25% staff discount and a company laptop. Also, company gatherings like Townhalls and drinks.

Eligibility Criteria

For This Internship, You Need To Be Available For 5 Months Starting In February 2026. Please Note That Your Application Will Only Be Considered If You Are Enrolled At a School Or University For The Full Duration Of The Internship. Additionally, To Comply With Dutch Law, One Of The Following Must Apply

  • You are an EU citizen,
  • You are on a Family/Partner visa, or
  • You are a non-EU student studying in the Netherlands, and you meet at least one of the following requirements: (1) The internship is a mandatory part of your curriculum, OR (2) your university is willing to sign a third-party agreement (Nuffic Agreement).
