Smore Labs is a recently funded VC-backed stealth startup building a UGC platform where kids play with AI to create, learn, and share with their friends. We are looking for a talented gameplay engineer with experience in Unity, a love of fast prototyping, and a passion for breaking new ground using AI. Bring your ideas and be part of this foundational team building a new mobile UGC platform with dozens of 2D and 3D games to teach and entertain.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the team, create gameplay features in Unity (C#) across 2D and 3D titles targeting mobile across a variety of kid friendly game genres
- Build kid-friendly creation tools and workflows integrated with AI systems and pipelines
- Implement core systems (input, camera, physics, UI, state machines, interactions, progression, economy stubs) and support content teams with reusable components
- Integrate platform services as needed (save/load, user-generated content flows, purchase flow, content sharing, analytics/events)
- Be an eager participant in the design and production of the game; the technical side of the creative team!
Essential Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years professional experience building games in Unity with strong C# fundamentals and hands-on gameplay/system development
- Proven track record shipping prototypes and/or live features quickly; comfortable owning features end-to-end in a small team.
- Deep familiarity with common gameplay patterns (state machines, component architecture, events/signals, data-driven design).
- Passion for empowering kids and creators; sensitivity to safety, accessibility, and age-appropriate UX
- Bonus: Experience shipping Unity titles on mobile (iOS/Android) and designing for child audiences (under 13), including safety, accessibility, and privacy (COPPA, GDPR-K).
The salary range is $106K to $153K
Candidates must be authorized to work and accept new employment in the U.S.
