The Organisation
VicRoads plays a vital role in delivering essential registration and licensing services to Victorians and is currently undergoing a significant digital transformation. With innovation, inclusivity, and collaboration at its core, the organisation is modernising customer experiences and expanding its digital capabilities to make services more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly.
The Opportunity
We are seeking two experienced Senior Product Designers to shape and deliver customer-centred digital products and experiences across VicRoads’ Product & Experience team. This role is central to designing intuitive, accessible, and engaging solutions that make a real difference to how millions of Victorians interact with VicRoads. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, and researchers to translate customer insights into impactful design outcomes that balance user needs, business goals, and community impact.
This will be a fast-moving process, with interviews commencing immediately.
Key Responsibilities
- Design direction: Shape design approaches aligned to customer priorities and project goals.
- Evidence-led design: Use research, testing, and analytics to inform design decisions.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Design Operations to deliver scalable, high-quality outcomes.
- Business alignment: Ensure design work supports strategic objectives and measurable value.
- Communication and storytelling: Present design concepts clearly, influencing through insight and evidence.
- Practice contribution: Contribute to design frameworks, standards, and continuous improvement across the team.
- Mentorship: Support junior designers through feedback, guidance, and collaboration.
The Right Fit
You are an experienced product designer who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about human-centred design, accessibility, and innovation.
To be successful, you will bring:
- 6+ years in product or experience design, ideally within large-scale or regulated organisations.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design across discovery, definition, and delivery.
- Expertise in human-centred design and proficiency with modern design tools and methods.
- Proven ability to translate insights into actionable design outcomes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in Design or related field; formal UX/UI or Product Design training preferred.
