Full-timeEngineering, Information Technology

We are seeking a coding-savvy Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and certify real-time firmware for mission-critical missile platform subsystems. Your role is highly practical, with a strong focus on creating safe, functional, and secure software that meets stringent operational requirements.

At Frankenburg, you will join an exceptional team bringing together top engineering and defence expertise from across Europe. As part of our software development taskforce, you will help bring complex embedded systems to life while ensuring reliability, seamless integration, and compliance with military and civil standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design functional and logical interfaces for operational software in compliance with defined requirements, military and civil standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Develop, test, and validate firmware for microcontrollers to ensure robust performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with electrical and hardware engineers to define interfaces and support seamless system integration.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in alignment with the overall development framework.
  • Prepare and maintain design specifications, interface control documents, and verification evidence.

We Would Love You to Have

  • Educational Background: A technical degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent work experience in software development will also be considered.
  • Experience: At least 3 years in designing and developing embedded firmware, familiarity with version control systems (preferably Git).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in C/C++ and optimization with ARM SIMD (NEON), familiarity with microcontroller hardware architectures like ARM and peripheral interfaces (I2C, SPI).
  • Soft Skills: Solution-oriented mindset, analytical thinking, and keen attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Mission Alignment: Strong alignment with our mission to build affordable and mass-manufacturable defence technologies — ensuring every euro spent moves us closer to our goal.
  • Security Clearance: Willingness to undergo a background check as a condition of employment.
  • Open to Relocate: Willingness to relocate to Tallinn.

Our Values

Our mission is ambitious and it takes a team that works with the same intensity.

Own the Mission: Mission first. Always.

  • We choose impact — we focus on what moves the mission forward fastest instead of “nice-to-haves".
  • We fix it now — when delays or problems appear, we step up, rally the right people, and solve them immediately.
  • We keep momentum — when time matters, we stay focused and move forward without waiting for perfect conditions.

Strive for More: Dare more. Do more. Achieve the impossible.

  • We challenge the status quo — we question, test, and improve instead of accepting “the usual way.”
  • We embrace discomfort — we step outside comfort zones and turn challenges into growth.
  • We anticipate the future — we build solutions that scale and set higher standards each time.

Build with Trust: Be open. Keep promises.

  • We walk the talk — what we say, we do. No excuses, no exceptions.
  • We share openly — we communicate clearly and early, even when the news is hard.
  • We own outcomes — we admit errors quickly, fix them, and prevent them from repeating.
