Why you will Love this role?

You are an experienced and proactive Senior Systems Engineer who is excited by the Space industry and is eager to join ICEYE's Ground Systems Hardware Team. You are highly capable in the areas of design, specification, validation, and evolution of systems hardware, and will be working on hardware that drives ICEYE's ground systems. You are detail-oriented, while keeping an eye on the bigger picture, and are driven to match the performance, reliability, and scalability of our mission-critical hardware to our demanding requirements (which you will participate in crafting). You thrive in environments that are technical, demanding, and dynamic, where engineering velocity is the key driver for success.

What will you do in this role?

  • System-level design, integration, and validation of ground hardware systems,
  • Define and maintain ground hardware specifications and physical/digital interface documentation(connectors, protocols, performance envelopes).
  • Conduct system and performance modeling, identifying design gaps and recommending roadmap improvements.
  • Own validation and acceptance testing, including bench setups, test plans, and final sign-off before delivery.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to ensure designs meet customer and business needs.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy, configuration control, and version management for all hardware specifications.
  • Apply strong understanding of compute, power, and environmental systems to ensure reliability and maintainability in operational deployments.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of system integration and testing processes to enhance quality and repeatability.

Requirements

What will you need to be successful in this role?

  • Proven experience in systems engineering for hardware-based products (e.g., mission systems, telecom, defense, or satellite ground equipment).
  • Strong background in hardware integration, environmental testing, and validation.
  • Experience defining and managing technical specifications and interfaces across multiple subsystems.
  • Demonstrated capability in cross-functional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and product management teams.
  • Solid understanding of networking, power, and compute hardware relevant to rugged or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong documentation, configuration management, and change control discipline.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with edge compute platforms and on-premise system deployments.
  • Familiarity with ruggedized hardware design and environmental compliance testing.
  • Exposure to system modeling tools, requirements management systems, or hardware validation frameworks.
  • Understanding of mission operations, ground stations, or ISR system architectures.
  • Experience contributing to or leading hardware validation and acceptance campaigns.
  • Background in earth observation, satellite systems, or defense hardware integration.
