About This Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Senior .NET Core Engineer to join our high-performing backend team of 6 engineers building a cutting-edge white-label electronic trading platform for the financial markets. Based in Lisbon, this is a hybrid role where you'll spend half your week on-site collaborating with our international team while driving the modernization of our infrastructure toward .NET 8 and microservices architecture.

The Challenge

You'll architect and develop mission-critical microservices powering real-time trading operations across Europe. Working at the intersection of technology excellence and business impact, you'll own the backend's technical evolution while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to our evolving tech strategy.

Your Responsibilities 🚀

• Design & develop scalable microservices using .NET 8, collaborating on architectural decisions that shape our platform's future
• Lead technical analysis within our Agile development cycle—from requirements gathering through code review—ensuring best practices and design patterns are embedded in every feature
• Own production support: Partner with our ops team to troubleshoot issues, deploy fixes, optimize performance, and manage releases with confidence
• Mentor & influence: Share your expertise through technical feedback sessions, architecture discussions, and guidance to team members; propose improvements to our DevOps practices
• Deliver excellence: Build solutions that excel in stability, maintainability, and user experience—using async/await patterns, distributed systems thinking, and proven SOLID principles

What We're Looking For 💻

Must-Have Experience:

• 10+ years of backend software development with .NET (strong focus on C# and .NET Core/ASP.NET Core)
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture, containerization (Docker), and orchestration mindsets
• Expert knowledge of design patterns, REST/gRPC APIs, and asynchronous programming
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems thinking—eventual consistency, saga patterns, event-driven architecture
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and test-driven development mindset
• Proven ability to work in globally distributed, collaborative teams
• Strong problem-solving skills and drive to master new domains quickly

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, Kafka)
• Kubernetes or cloud-native deployment experience (Azure, AWS)
• Knowledge of financial trading systems, compliance, or market data architectures
• Leadership or mentoring experience
