Full-timeProject Management, Information Technology

Omnidea is an aerospace company focused on developing innovative solutions for space and high-altitude systems. We are currently advancing a partially funded High-Altitude Pseudo-Satellite (HAPS) concept, with the goal of maturing it from conceptual design through early prototyping and demonstration.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager with a background in aerospace engineering and aircraft systems development to lead the initial conceptual phase of our HAPS project. The selected candidate will coordinate technical activities, manage project planning and reporting, and help form and guide a small multidisciplinary engineering team.

This is a unique opportunity to take a leadership role in shaping a novel European HAPS platform from concept to prototype, within a growing and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the conceptual design phase of a HAPS platform (airframe, propulsion, power, avionics, and mission systems).
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor technical and management activities in alignment with project milestones and funding requirements.
  • Support the formation and coordination of a small engineering team (internal and external collaborators).
  • Interface with partners, suppliers, and funding entities (national and EU-level).
  • Contribute to technical documentation, project reviews, and funding proposals for follow-on phases.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet schedule, budget, and technical requirements.

Qualifications and Profile

  • Degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent (Mechanical, Aeronautical, or related).
  • 2–4 years of experience in aerospace project development, preferably in aircraft design, systems integration, or advanced concepts.
  • Solid understanding of aircraft design principles, aerodynamic analysis, and systems engineering.
  • Experience in project management (planning, reporting, coordination, risk management).
  • Proficiency in English (mandatory); additional languages are an asset.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a small, agile, and multidisciplinary environment.
  • Familiarity with HAPS, UAV, or light aircraft systems is highly valued.
  • Additional desirable skills: CAD/CAE tools, systems modelling, propulsion systems knowledge, or experience with R&D proposal preparation.
  • Knowledge of national and international funding programmes/schemes is valued.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to shape an innovative aerospace project from its conceptual stage.
  • Dynamic and collaborative work environment in the Lisbon region.
  • Flexible work arrangements and opportunities for professional growth as the project evolves.
