About The Position

We’re now looking for a Head of Backend (temporary position, November 2025 – September 2026) to take on both strategic and operational leadership for our backend platform.

In this role, you’ll lead and develop the backend team and be part of the Tech Leadership Team, with overall responsibility for our backend domain – from technical direction to team performance. You’ll focus on creating structure, building efficient ways of working, and ensuring we develop systematically across releases and projects.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Leading, coaching and developing the backend team through clear goals and feedback.
• Driving process improvement for release management, delivery quality and collaboration.
• Ensuring documentation, code quality, platform readiness and incident management
• Owning backend architecture and roadmap at a strategic level.
• Facilitating alignment and shared technical practices across teams.
• Collaborating closely with stakeholders to align technical direction with business goals.
  
  

You won’t be expected to code daily, but you’ll need enough technical understanding to guide, challenge and support your team effectively.

About You

You’re an experienced leader who thrives on bringing structure and clarity to complex technical environments. You're a team player who enjoys enabling others to succeed. You know when to think big and when to roll up your sleeves.

You bring:

• Proven experience in leading backend or platform teams, with responsibility for people, delivery and process development.
• Strong understanding of modern backend technologies – preferably within our stack: Node.js, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, and Azure.
• Experience working with microservices, event-driven architecture, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Swedish is highly meritorious.
• Experience in IoT or real-time data flows is a plus.
  
  

Please note that this is a security-classified position, which means a security clearance process will be part of the recruitment. The position is based in Stockholm with a hybrid work setup, and self-employed consultants are welcome to apply.
