Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance the Xfinity Stream Android application, addressing bug fixes, performance improvements, and new feature development.
- Refactor and update legacy Java codebase to Kotlin, integrating coroutines and modern Android design patterns.
- Collaborate closely with designers, testers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following Clean Architecture and Separation of Concerns principles.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and app performance tuning.
- Ensure quality releases through thorough testing and adherence to Agile methodologies.
- Stay current with emerging Android technologies, libraries, and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on Android development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java; solid understanding of Android Studio, Git, and Jira.
- Deep understanding of Android fundamentals including Clean Architecture, Jetpack Compose, Exception Handling, and Data Caching.
- Experience building and maintaining native Android apps (no React Native or cross-platform experience).
- Demonstrated experience with video streaming or media playback applications (e.g., Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, etc.) preferred.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work on projects spanning over one year or more with consistent delivery.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
- Prior experience in large enterprise mobile applications with millions of users.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and test-driven development (TDD).
