They are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer (Mobile), will develop and enhance application functionality for a public facing mobile application targeting Android devices. This position supports the end-to-end development of Android apps using Kotlin including upgrading existing code to be compatible with current android API versions.
Your new role
As a Senior Software Engineer, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- To lead the design, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, and documentation of mobile application projects utilising assigned technologies.
- To develop and maintaining mobile applications using Kotlin targeting Android mobile devices.
- To manage end-to-end release of mobile apps on Android including testing through Google Play Store.
- To build reusable components and libraries for future use and champion AA/AAA Accessibility, and to perform unit testing, integration testing and facilitating user acceptance testing by business stakeholders.
- To collaborate with backend developers on API requirements and with designers and analysts to ensure feasibility of UI/UX designs and with product owners to ensure the solution meets requirements.
- Designs complex software applications, components and modules.
- Uses appropriate modelling techniques following agreed software design standards, guidelines, patterns and methodology. Creates and communicates multiple design views to balance stakeholders' concerns and to satisfy functional and non-functional requirements. Identifies, evaluates and recommends alternative design options and trade-offs.
- Models, simulates or prototypes the behaviour of proposed software to enable approval by stakeholders, and effective construction of the software. Verifies software design by constructing and applying appropriate methods.
What you'll need to succeed
This position would suit an applicant who has demonstrated Android design and development experience, a high degree of initiative and problem solving and the ability to self-manage. Good communication and time management skills, a can-do attitude and experience establishing strong working relationships are essential.
- An equivalent/ relevant tertiary qualification.
- Experienced with Kotlin for Android (at API level 33+)
- Proficient with Google Firebase Crashlytics crash reports and other engagement reporting features.
- Familiarity with mobile platform specific features for Android.
- Demonstrated experience working in an Agile environment.
- Experience with modern source control using git and GitHub or similar.
- A link to your GitHub/GitLab repo and/or portfolio in your covering letter.
- Experience in build and release management in Google Play Store.
- Experience with kotlin annotation processors – preferably kapt.
- Experience with the Mapbox SDK for android (ideally version 9)
