Security Researcher

Role Overview

McAfee continues to work for the common goal of shaping the future by designing and building best in class, robust and scalable security products for our customers and partners. This is where you come in, as we are seeking an experienced Security Researcher who is defined by a unique and innovative skills, style and point of view. You will analyze various cyber threats in real-time, providing immediate protection through security products, and promoting security awareness in cyberspace for customers' comfortable digital lives. Your role will help our current and future customers to protect themselves from cyber threat situations.

This is a remote role based in the Canada. We are only considering candidates currently in Canada and are not offering relocation assistance.

About The Role

• Analyzing threats and vulnerabilities targeting Android/iOS mobile platforms.
• Providing low-level analysis and research of threats, devices and operating systems.
• Authoring blog posts, conference papers and presentations on threats and platform-related topics. (Previous experience with blog/whitepaper authoring conference submissions a huge plus)
• Actively researching into next generation mobile threat protection technologies.
• Working with other researchers and Engineers to drive McAfee's product line of industry leading security products for the protection of our customers.
  
  

About You

• 3-5+ years' experience in security research with expertise in Android, iOS and/or Linux operating system
• Strong skills in Android and iOS debugging technologies.
• Experience in identifying malicious code
• Code debugging and reverse engineering skills for file formats including Java byte code, Dalvik and ELF is required
• Strong understanding of Assembly
• Experience with IDA Pro/JEB or equivalent disassembly tools.
• Experience of networking and Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, FTP)
• Familiarity with one or more programming languages is desirable: C, C++, C#, Perl, Java, JavaScript, Python, Golang
• Knowledge of good Engineering practices including coding standards, source control and development testing
• Knowledge of AWS cloud architecture technologies
• You are an individual with a Can-do attitude with onus on innovation with ability to follow through and execute
• Effective communication skills to address different audiences
