MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Manager on behalf of our client, a leading organization in the utilities and infrastructure sector. The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of low to medium-risk infrastructure and construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within scope, and on budget. This role requires a strong technical foundation, exceptional communication skills, and proven experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams in complex environments.

Location: Burnaby, BC

Contract Duration: 1 Year

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute low-to-medium risk infrastructure or construction projects (typically up to $20M in capital cost).
  • Develop and maintain project management documentation including project plans, risk registers, communication plans, and progress reports.
  • Oversee all project phases — scoping, planning, execution, monitoring, and close-out — ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate project activities such as engineering, stakeholder engagement, procurement, construction management, and commissioning.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources using project management best practices and tools (MS Project, Excel, etc.).
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and field teams.
  • Provide clear communication through verbal, written, and presentation formats to support decision-making and issue resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation (required).
  • 5+ years of progressive project or program management experience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple infrastructure or construction projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Preferred Qualifications (Assets)

  • P.Eng designation or background in engineering.
  • Experience working with large utility organizations.
  • Familiarity with SAP or enterprise project management systems.
  • Prior experience in utility, energy, or large enterprise environments.
