The Senior Merchandiser is responsible for the execution of QC+’s merchandise development and production process, including coordination of merchandise suppliers, product selection/quality control, supply logistics and various internal departments inside the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Merchandise Manager and Design Team and/or Head of Merchandise Development & Production to develop new merchandise requirements and plan new product designs and categories.
- Liaise closely with suppliers and Design Team to develop bespoke products from artwork to product specifications, molding, samples, and final production, achieving the highest levels of quality in product fabrication.
- Coordinate product research process to support concepts for new products/product lines and prepare reports detailing findings and recommendations.
- Coordinate with merchandise suppliers on all aspects of the production process, including contract placement, product sampling and design revisions, quality control, main order finalization, shipping, and delivery, etc.
- Maintain strong working relationships with merchandise suppliers and act as day-to-day point of contact for all such suppliers.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure a swift response and timely resolution to any issues and deliver merchandising milestones within the critical path.
- Manage timely deliveries and ensure product specifications are met to QC+’s standards.
- Research patents, copyright, and trademarks related to bespoke product development to ensure that no future infringement issues or claims against QC+ arise.
- Conduct research to identify the best means to fabricate products and the best suppliers to engage for production.
- Work with the Merchandise Manager and Head of Merchandise Development & Production and Design Team colleagues to review product samples and coordinate required updates/design alterations.
- Work with the Merchandise Manager and/or Head of Merchandise Development & Production and Design Team colleagues to plan parameters for merchandising main orders/reorders, including order quantities, pricing, packaging, labelling, shipping specifics, etc.
- Work with the Merchandise Coordinators and Merchandise Administrators to complete all operational and administrative processes including using the product request acceptance form.
- Liaise with the Procurement Team to oversee and support all aspects of the procurement process related to merchandise supply.
- Liaise with the Legal and Finance Teams to process contracts, invoicing, and other documentation related to suppliers.
- Liaise with Logistics Team and other departments to facilitate the inbound shipping of product samples and main orders.
- Develop a strong collaborative relationship with staff at QM/QC+ gift shops, ensuring that relevant aspects of the merchandise production process are communicated and that logistical requirements are coordinated.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports as required.
- Prepare forecasts to optimize sales, stock holding, margin, and availability.
- Monitor margin performance to ensure that retail & merchandising margin targets are achieved.
- Source/identify and evaluate potential suppliers to engage for new business.
Qualifications:
- A degree in business administration, marketing, design, or other relevant subject area.
- At least 6 years of retail experience.
- Well-developed computing skills, including the understanding of relevant IT products and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP/Oracle).
