What you’ll be doing

As a junior data engineer, you’ll be part of the data team responsible for maintaining and innovating our data systems. You’ll ensure our data is fast, reliable, accurate, powerful, and accessible for our customers. Building with scale and maintainability in mind whilst innovating new ways our data can provide value is the key to success. Some key activities include:

  • Write clean, testable code with support from senior team members
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and team rituals
  • Collaborate with engineers across firmware, software, and hardware
  • Build, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines to process and integrate data from our global network of microscopy sensors with our AI capabilities.
  • Exploratory analysis and modelling of our data
  • Innovate, develop, and maintain dashboards and other analytics for customers within the business.
  • Provide analytics and data for our science team and industry partners to do research with


We’re looking for someone who has

  • Passion for solving real-world problems with tech
  • A background in data, or statistics, with a keen interest in working on complex data challenges related to disease detection and image analysis at scale.
  • A software engineering focused approach to data
  • Experience writing python
  • Curious mindset and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies

Bonus Points

  • Experience with image data processing and analysis.
  • Experience in agriculture, science, or adjacent industries.
  • Interest in innovating our machine learning capabilities
  • This is not mandatory but being interested in AI is a great fit for us, we’re not expecting you to transform our AI but it's an opportunity for you to learn about computer vision and neural networks, which are skills we’ll help support you in growing if you desire.
