Eblex Group are currently partnered with a Biotechnology business based in Belgium supporting them with their search for a Data Scientist to support in their Drug Discovery efforts.

Their multidisciplinary team combines biology, and artificial intelligence to identify novel therapeutic targets and transform how medicines are discovered.

We are looking for a Data Scientist with a passion for biomedical innovation and advanced analytics to join their clients Belgium base.

Your Role as a Data Scientist

• Apply data science, statistics, and machine learning to analyse and interpret large-scale biological datasets (omics, screening, imaging, etc.).
• Develop and implement predictive models to identify drug targets, optimise compounds, and uncover biological insights.
• Integrate diverse data sources (genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and phenotypic) to support target validation and lead discovery.
• Collaborate with biologists, chemists, and bioinformaticians to design data-driven experiments and validate computational findings.
• Build and maintain reproducible, well-documented pipelines and visualization dashboards.
• Stay up to date with emerging computational tools, AI/ML techniques, and data standards in life sciences.
• Contribute to scientific publications, project proposals, and presentations.

About You as a Data Scientist

• Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience applying data science in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or academic research.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Strong analytical background in statistics, machine learning, and data visualization.
• Experience working with biological or chemical datasets (e.g., omics, HTS, cheminformatics).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and workflow tools (Docker, Nextflow, Snakemake) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional scientific teams.
