ABOUT THE ROLE:
Whether you're based in Vilnius or Riga (or working remotely), you'll join our distributed team driving the development of key web applications within the insurance technology domain.
As a Lead / Principal Full Stack Software Engineer (PHP), you'll take a hands-on leadership role guiding technical direction, ensuring code quality, and mentoring team members. You'll help shape architecture, integrations, and best practices across both back-end and front-end areas, working closely with analysts, QA automation engineers, and business stakeholders.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Lead the design, development and enhancement of full‐stack web applications using PHP for backend and JS/HTML/CSS for frontend.
- Oversee the full stack back-end and front-end ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Set technical standards, conduct reviews, and guide developers in following best practices.
- Collaborate with analysts and product teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
- Support system integrations through REST APIs and coordinate with other systems and vendors.
- Promote automation, testing, and CI/CD improvements across the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical planning.
Must-haves:
- 6+ years of full-stack web development experience using PHP.
- Strong command of OOP, MVC, and system integration concepts.
- Deep understanding of both back-end (PHP, REST APIs) and front-end (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) technologies.
- Experience with frameworks such as CodeIgniter, CakePHP, or Symfony.
- Familiarity with Vue.js or jQuery for front-end development.
- Solid experience with Git, Postman, and SQL.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and guide technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and business domains.
- Experience with accessibility standards and adapting web applications for users with diverse needs would be a huge plus.
- Experience with architecture design, performance optimization, or microservices.
- Understanding of CI/CD, cloud deployment, and DevOps practices.
- Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., insurance, finance).
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ownership of deliverables.
