**Software Developer – Where Your Code Actually Saves Lives**
Ever wondered what it'd feel like to write code that genuinely matters? This isn't another fintech startup promising to revolutionise how people split dinner bills. This is about using your dev skills to help doctors find better cancer treatments and researchers discover new ones.
The Mission
This organisation runs the world's first national DNA data centre for cancer research. They provide hospitals with advanced DNA testing and the software to interpret results, helping doctors make better treatment decisions today whilst supporting researchers working on tomorrow's breakthroughs. Every system they build, every pipeline they optimise, every line of code they deploy has a direct impact on patient outcomes.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll join a collaborative team of engineers, data specialists, and scientists working on large-scale DNA analysis systems. The work spans developing and improving data pipeline tools, automating processes to make workflows faster and more reliable, and helping shape how genomic data is stored, shared, and analysed securely.
You'll contribute to CI/CD pipelines, explore new tech, and learn about cloud computing and bioinformatics whilst working on something that genuinely saves lives. The role offers real exposure to cutting-edge healthcare technology without requiring years of domain experience.
What They're Looking For
- 1-4 years of software dev experience
- Experience with Java, Kotlin, or Python
- Interest in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerisation tools
- Solid understanding of Git and clean code practices
- Genuine curiosity about healthcare tech and data
What's On Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Initial one-year contract with permanent intentions
- Multidisciplinary environment working alongside doctors and scientists
- Real career growth opportunities in a mission-driven organisation
- Amsterdam Science Park location
This is for devs who want their work to have genuine impact beyond typical commercial metrics. If building technology that helps save lives sounds more appealing than optimising ad click-through rates, this could be exactly what you're looking for.
