We are looking for a skilled Senior Data Scientist to drive the development of generative AI solutions across a range of sectors and applications.

In this role, you will apply your expertise in machine learning to solve complex challenges for EPAM’s clients, utilizing the latest innovations in AI and data science for text, image, video, and other data formats. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams of engineers, researchers, and product leaders, playing a pivotal part in transforming generative AI ideas into real-world solutions.

Responsibilities

• Champion generative AI projects by pinpointing opportunities where these technologies can deliver value
• Investigate, architect, and build prototypes for advanced generative AI methods
• Assess the practicality and impact of generative AI models in business environments
• Review and synthesize current scientific literature to guide solution strategies
• Develop and test generative AI models tailored to specific business needs
• Partner with machine learning engineers throughout the research and deployment lifecycle
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define the direction and use cases for generative AI
• Share outcomes with stakeholders, clearly explaining both technical details and business implications

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in Data Science, with a focus on building generative models like LLMs, GANs, VAEs, or Diffusion models
• Background in computer vision and natural language processing, including handling multimodal data such as images, text, and audio
• Experience working with OpenAI GPT-x and fine-tuning large language models
• Demonstrated ability to produce maintainable, production-level code following best practices
• Advanced proficiency in Python programming
• Skilled in at least one deep learning library, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Track record of optimizing deep learning models for deployment
• Practical experience with at least one major cloud provider, including AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities
• English language proficiency at B2+ level or above

Nice to have

• Exposure to other generative AI frameworks and the latest advancements in the field
• Understanding of reinforcement learning and self-supervised learning techniques
• Experience with MLOps tools and workflows for model deployment and monitoring
