Objectives
The Senior Energy Project Manager will be responsible for high-level data modelling, load forecasting, project pipeline management, and the validation of energy savings, supporting Client's sustainability and decarbonization goals. The role spans from data collection and modelling to project execution, M&V, and reporting, with a focus on innovation, compliance, and cross functional leadership.
The role spans audit → IGA → design → implementation support → M&V to deliver guaranteed/shared savings under ESCO contracts and Clients standards
Required Skills:
Advanced Data Analytics: Collect, validate, and analyse energy consumption data from multiple sources; maintain and enhance the Energy Data Model (utilities, boundaries, normalization for weather/occupancy).
- Forecasting & Modelling: Develop time series models for short- and long-term load forecasting; perform variance analysis (actual vs. baseline).
- Disaggregation & End-Use Analysis: Run equipment-level disaggregation and end-use breakdowns; analyse operating schedules, setpoints, and retrofits.
- Reporting & KPIs: Report on energy consumption, cost savings, and KPI achievements; build dashboards and present findings to management.
- Project Pipeline Management: Manage the portfolio pipeline of energy initiatives from screening to M&V; ensure robust documentation and approvals.
- ECM Identification: Identify ECMs (HVAC optimization, lighting retrofits, renewables) with quantified savings and ROI.
- M&V & Auditing: Conduct ASHRAE Level I-II audits; perform M&V in line with IPMVP; benchmark assets and verify post-implementation performance.
- Financial Modelling: Build cash flow models for ECMs and distributed energy projects; evaluate NPV/IRR, incorporate degradation and O&M.
- Contract Structuring: Structure performance contracts/EPCs, shared-savings models, and M&V-backed guarantees.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Facilitate reviews with Finance, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and HSE.
- Perform ASHRAE Level 1-3 audits and IGAs; establish calibrated baselines and savings estimates.
- Develop ECMs across HVAC/chilled water, lighting & controls, envelope/facades, and other equipment and process loads.
- Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, and drawings; contribute to RFPs (ESCO and direct procurement).
- Evaluate ESCO proposals (technical/commercial) and align scope with performance guarantees.
- Oversee retrofit implementation, and commissioning/retro ‑ commissioning; manage change control.
- Develop and execute IPMVP M&V plans (Options A-D) with non ‑ routine adjustments and performance assurance.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is mandatory.
- Additional certification in CMVP is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of energy auditing, M&V, and energy management systems.
- Proficient in report writing
- Experience with technical tools for energy measurement and diagnostics.
- Project management skills, including scheduling, resource allocation, and vendor management.
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Minimum 12 years' experience in energy analytics, M&V, and project management within ESCOs or similar organizations.
- Demonstrated experience with large-scale retrofit projects, advanced analytics, and compliance with international standards.
- Proficiency in data analysis, modelling, and dashboard tools (Power BI, MS Office).
- Experience in retrofitting petrol stations using the ESCO mechanism in Abu Dhabi is mandatory
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) (mandatory)
- CMVP (mandatory)
- Valid driving license
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required
- Abu Dhabi residency is mandatory
