Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join our Platform Team in London, part of a global engineering group. You will work on a core platform that consists of distributed services for ingesting, transforming, and processing observability data. This data supports various applications in visualization, integration, and analytics, solving a broad range of observability challenges across industries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, including design, development, documentation, testing, integration, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Participate in mentoring relationships, both giving and receiving guidance, to foster mutual growth and development within the team.
• Approach our products and customer challenges with curiosity, striving to understand the solutions we deliver.
• Work with team members to develop innovative, customer-centric solutions.
• Take part in team support responsibilities to ensure reliable service for our customers.
• Advocate for a culture of quality and testing, offering guidance and support to team members less experienced in these practices.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience as a backend Core Java developer with complex, distributed systems.
• Proficient in core Java, data structures, concurrency, and building applications from scratch (not relying on frameworks like Spring).
• Experienced in event-driven systems using Kafka and stream processing at scale (Flink, Kafka Streams, Spark).
• Strong knowledge of deploying applications on Kubernetes and troubleshooting issues.
• Ability to design and optimize high-performance, scalable systems.
• Expertise in data consistency, availability, and managing complex data models.
• Focused on delivering value through quality software and problem-solving.
• Experience tuning JVM performance, including garbage collection and heap dumps.
• Familiar with using monitoring/observability tools to ensure application stability
