The Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC) is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and sustainment of secure systems and services supporting Army’s Land Combat System Support Environment (LCSSE). This is a hands-on technical role at the heart of Defence’s digital integration efforts, enabling secure experimentation, test & evaluation, and risk reduction across Land, Joint and Coalition boundaries.
Location: Canberra, ACT
Clearance: Active NV1 Mandatory (NV2 Preferred)
Contract Duration: 24 Months with 2 x 12 Month Extensions
- Administer and maintain cyber/network security appliances (e.g. firewalls, gateways, cross-domain solutions)
- Design, build and implement secure network and system configurations for LNIC’s Battle Labs
- Collaborate with engineering, DevSecOps and environment teams to deploy and maintain security systems
- Conduct system audits, vulnerability assessments, patching, and risk assessments
- Manage security policies and enforce secure access controls in compliance with the ISM
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g. Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible)
- Integrate cybersecurity into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab & Ansible
- Support Army exercises and trials, providing technical advice and mentoring
- Assist in creation and maintenance of security compliance documentation
- Extensive experience designing, deploying and maintaining cybersecurity systems and applications
- Strong understanding of ISM Security Controls in classified Windows and Linux environments
- Familiarity with Defence cybersecurity assessment and authorisation frameworks
- Working knowledge of networking, storage, and virtualisation (KVM, VMware)
- Experience with scripting and automation tools
- Background in Defence or government projects with NV1/NV2 clearance
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in cybersecurity, network/software engineering or similar
- Strong technical documentation and collaboration skills
Desirable:
- Industry certifications (e.g. RHCE, Security+, CISSP, GSE)
- ITIL Foundation certification
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
